Even though Eternal Sailor Moon was determined to save the Cauldron and chose a different path, she nevertheless inspired hope in Sailor Cosmos with her power and courage. She stated that the Eternal Sailor Moon who had saved the galaxy was, in fact, the true form of Sailor Cosmos, and that once she had that same courage and strength, only then would she truly be Sailor Cosmos. Sailor Cosmos' nature was not entirely clear, Naoko Takeuchi herself seemed to imply when questioned that Cosmos' true identity was intended to be ambiguous to everyone, including herself.""

Sailor Cosmos (セーラー・コスモス Sērā Kosumosu^?) rivela se stessa nell'atto finale del manga. Lei proviene da un futuro in cui le guerriere sono state decimate da una terribile guerra contro Chaos; Dopo anni di interminabile lotta, Sailor Cosmos prese la decisione di assumere le sembianze di ChibiChibi per tornare indietro nel tempo, ed incoraggiare Eternal Sailor Moon a distruggere Chaos quando ne ebbe la possibilità. All'inizio Sailor Cosmos avrebbe voluto che Sailor Moon distruggesse il Galaxy Cauldron per impedire a Chaos di rinascere da esso, ma Sailor Moon si rifiutò quando realizzò che anche senza il Cauldron Chaos sarebbe rinato in Caoudroun e il sacrificio delle guerriere sailor sarebbe stato vano. Al contrario scelse di sacrificare se stessa nel Cauldron per poterlo purificare. Questo gesto diede la forza e il coraggio, o meglio, le ali tanto cercate da Sailor Cosmos e quindi torna nel suo futuro con una nuova speranza.
